Monday 14th July 2025
We are excited to host a night of looping instrumental improvisation and electronic experimentation, featuring Ben Vince (Hessle Audio/Ecstatic/Where to Now?), Powders (Them There Records) and C Crook (Nosummer).
Ben Vince (Hessle Audio/Ecstatic/Where to Now?)
A prolific collaborator, including with EP/64, Rat Heart, Cucina Povera, Joy Orbison, Mica Levi + Valentina Magaletti, Ben Vince is known for his saxophone explorations, inventive rhythms, textures and moods. Described as "...where the histories of free jazz, early experimental composition, and leftfield club music all cook down together" - Pitchfork.
Powders (Them There Records)
Joshua Horsley and Carl Brown form Powders, an experimental project comprising semi-improvised interplay between cello (Horsley) and electronics (Brown). Powders move through sample-heavy concrète, classical, noise and shimmering sounds of 90s JRPG soundtracks, always with an experimental spirit, minimalist sleight and a distinctly Northern context.
C Crook (Nosummer)
C Crook synesthetically explores concepts in natural science through musical terms, experimenting with the mathematics, associative qualities and granular detail of sound. Their work orbits dance and club sounds, taking in influences from the harmonic textures of 80s prog-pop, the saturated ambience of post-rock, all with a lo-fi intimacy.
